This year’s summer was truly productive for the children who studied God’s Word in various Daily Vacation Bible Schools (DVBS) conducted by Novaliches Christian Fellowship.
Through the efforts of its Children’s Ministry and with the support of other members and young volunteers alike, NCF held three week-long DVBS sessions under the theme Fearless: Standing Boldly For God with materials published by Church Strengthening Ministry (CBS)
From April 24-29, a DVBS was held in Rivera Compound in Barangay Kaligayahan in Novaliches, Quezon City, with a total of 42 graduates. The DVBS was coordinated by Sister Edith Dantes as VBS Director.
This was followed on May 8 to 13 by another DVBS in Rainbow Homes II in Barangay San Bartolome, Quezon City with 21 graduates. The DVBS was coordinated by Sister Bella Figueras as VBS Assistant Director. Through the work of Pastor Noni Lazo, NCF was able to conduct prior evangelism efforts in Rainbow Homes.
Around the same time as the second DVBS, a third one was also conducted in Rapu-Rapu, Albay with 19 participants. The Rapu-Rapu DVBS was conducted by several youth participants who immediately applied what they learned under Discipling the Islands 3 held in NCF from April 17 to 22.
The Fearless DVBS adopted a martial arts motif, but serves only as a mere analogy to the true spiritual fight that young children are facing in the world today. But with God’s help, Christian children will learn to stand up for the Lord through five daily lessons learned through the week, namely how to be a fearless Follower, Defender, Peacemaker, Worshiper and Witness.
The NCF students were also divided into three groups: those aged 4-6 were called Novices, those from ages 7 to 9 were called Trainees and students aged 10 to 12 are called Acolytes.
With these successful evangelistic forays, NCF prays continually for even more activities than can help bring communities to Jesus, ministering both to their spiritual as well as physical needs. Praise the Lord!
